Schuylkill Soundings - Life, Death and Rebirth of the Schuylkill River
In this presentation, the history of drinking water and wastewater in Philadelphia and the region will be outlined, with a specific focus on the environmental issues. These issues informed, or were ignored by, the decision-makers who built the region's water infrastructure.
Join the Fairmount Water Works Interpretive Center (FWWIC) on February 16 as Ed Grusheski, retired Philadelphia Water Department employee and moving force behind the creation of the FWWIC, shares his knowledge and insights about the river that flows outside (and sometimes inside) the Interpretive Center.
Ed will place particular emphasis on the role of the Fairmount Water Works system in the 19th century, as Philadelphia made a valiant - albeit futile - attempt to implement land management practices to protect its drinking water quality.
We invite you to share this invitation with friends, and to follow the FWWIC on Facebook and Twitter (@FWWIC).
The FWWIC welcomes donations, which support their programming.
