Keeping Peace on the Banks
Activity:
Thousands of people walk, run, bike, fish, or just hang out on Schuylkill Banks every week. Most of the time everyone coexists in peace, but occasionally that harmony is thrown out of balance. By observing the following tips, you can help make the Banks a safer and more enjoyable place for everyone!
- Pedestrians should keep to the right whenever possible.
- Cyclists should slow down or walk their bikes in over-crowded trail segments.
- Those with pets should keep the pets next to them on a short leash when on the paved trail.
- Pedestrians should check both directions for traffic before crossing the trail.
- Cyclists should ring a bell to announce their presence to slower traffic.
- Those with pets must keep pets leashed at all times when in the park.
- Anglers should avoid fishing on narrow, low visibility trail segments, like under Chestnut Street Bridge.
- Everyone listening to a personal music player should adjust the volume so they can hear warnings by bicycle and vehicular traffic.
SRDC loves serving the thoughtful and considerate population that recreates on Schuylkill Banks. Thank you for making an effort to keep yourself and others safe and creating a friendly atmosphere on the Banks!
