Marketing and Community Relations Manager

SRDC seeks a Marketing and Community Relations Manager to help enhance and develop SRDC’s presence in the community.  Through a coordinated plan, the Manager will build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders and the community at large through the creation and distribution of a variety of marketing materials. The Manager will develop and manage community relations, public participation, and public outreach programs responsive to local stakeholder needs and aligned with SRDC's mission. The Manager will represent SRDC at community events, conduct community assessments and provide feedback voiced by stakeholders, and provide tours and presentations of Schuylkill Banks projects. This is a full-time, in-person position with a primarily Monday-Friday schedule. Some weekend and evening work is required. This position reports to the Interim Chief Executive Officer and has the following responsibilities:

Marketing and Communications Tasks

  • Website Management - Manage, maintain, and troubleshoot the Schuylkill Banks website; create written and graphic content for the website and update content regularly; assist with responses to inquiries made through the contact forms in a timely manner
  • Social Media Account Management - Regularly create original content, share and like relevant partner content, and respond to inquiries in a timely manner
  • Monthly E-newsletter Management - Create written and graphic content utilizing an email marketing service and manage e-newsletter subscriber list
  • Create printed marketing materials such as event flyers, brochures, banners, annual reports, and fundraising materials
  • Create written and graphic content for trail bulletin boards
  • Create interpretive signage, including researching topics and creating design files for transmission to manufacturer
  • Work with other staff on team projects that promote the corporation’s mission and on presentations explaining SRDC’s work
  • Create marketing reports and other related documents
  • Create press releases for events and programming
  • Maintain a media contact list
  • Act as a point of contact for the media as needed
  • Manage Google Ads
  • Manage the Schuylkill Banks t-shirt/swag inventory
  • Assist with fundraising campaigns and donor relations as needed

Community Outreach, Programming, and Trail Operations Tasks

  • Represent SRDC at community meetings as appropriate
  • Manage SRDC events such as movie nights, kayak tours, Fish Fest, Exploring Our Urban Watershed, and other special events
  • Assist SRDC staff on routine operational and maintenance tasks as needed
  • Assist SRDC staff with volunteer coordination and lead volunteer work teams as needed
  • Staff the Schuylkill Banks Center as needed
  • Schedule and manage the part-time seasonal Program Assistant as needed 

Related Tasks
As part of the SRDC team, all employees are expected to assist other staff members on routine operational and maintenance tasks as needed. Employees are also expected to participate in and/or work on the organization’s overall program and activities. This may require working additional hours during the week, evenings, weekends, and holidays. This is the nature of the work that SRDC does and is considered an integral part of all SRDC duty statements.  As such it is included as part of the agreed upon compensation.

 

Qualifications

  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Exceptional analytical and creative problem-solving skills
  • Organized and process-oriented with an ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, independently, and efficiently with numerous deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with a diverse group of stakeholders and community members
  • Experience in database management
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe products
  • Experience with social media platforms and website maintenance
  • Experience in community outreach, programming, and customer service
  • Interest in and commitment to SRDC’s mission
  • Minimum of three years of progressive experience in communications, public outreach, and community relations preferably in the nonprofit sector

 

Salary and Benefits

  • $65,000-$75,000 starting salary based on experience and qualifications
