Volunteer

SRDC depends on its wonderful volunteers to make our community programming possible and keep Schuylkill Banks clean and beautiful all year long. If you are excited about what we do and want to help make a difference, we would love to have you on our team. We have a place for you whether you can commit to a weekly shift, are looking for a one-time volunteering opportunity, or have a group of coworkers, friends, or family wanting to complete a day of community service. Community Programming Volunteers
SRDC hosts kayak tours, movie nights, and other special events on select Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays during the warmer months. Programming volunteers help set up for these events, check in tour participants, get kayaks in and out of the river, hand out refreshments at movie nights, and put everything away at the end of the events. Trail Maintenance Volunteers
SRDC is out on the trail nearly every day of the year picking up litter, removing graffiti from trail amenities and fixtures, and caring for the 29-acre greenway (i.e., removing invasive plant species, planting new plants, spreading mulch or gravel, and other light landscaping tasks). Trail maintenance volunteers help complete this work and are vital to keeping Schuylkill Banks welcoming for all to enjoy. We typically work with trail maintenance volunteers from 10am to 4pm Monday through Friday, and from 10am to 1pm on Saturday and Sunday. We request that you commit to volunteering for at least three hours when helping with trail maintenance tasks. SRDC welcomes individuals and groups of 12 or less to help us with trail maintenance. Please reach out if you have any questions about scheduling flexibility.
