Trail Safety Starts with You!

We love summertime on the Banks, because both the trail and greenway are packed with commuters, runners, walkers, cyclists, yogis, event participants, dogs and maybe even some cats. During this time of high usership, it is imperative that all trail users stay aware of their surroundings and be courteous to fellow trail users. Trail safety starts with you!

If you do find yourself in an emergency situation, please call 911 immediately. The 9th District Police also patrols the trail almost everyday of the week, so please feel free to stop these officers as needed. (Thanks to the 9th District for your support of trail safety)! If an officer is not in sight and you need to call 911, look for the yellow and black trail locators wrapped around specific lamp posts along the trail, including on the Grays Ferry Crescent and Bartram's Mile segments. Each trail locator has a trail location number that you should give to the 911 dispatcher, so to help emergency responders get to you quickly.

In November, we posted about the installation of 21 security cameras along Schuylkill Banks between Race Street and Locust Street - thanks to funding secured by Council President Darrell Clarke and Councilman Johnson. Read that post here. Since that time, additional funding has been raised to install 23 cameras along the Banks from Locust Street to Christian Street. These cameras are currently being installed.

Trail safety is important to us all and makes for a more enjoyable experience on the Banks. If you see an emergency situation on the trail, please call 911 immediately. For non-emergency concerns, please call our office at 215-309-5523 or email us at [email protected] and let us know what's happening out on the trail.
