South to Christian

The second phase of this project, which will extend the trail from the southern end of the Boardwalk to Christian Street, has been underway since February. Remaining work includes landscaping, installation of an irrigation system, plazas and amenities. Because of seasonally-dependent planting schedules, the work may not be complete until the fall. The delivery of plantings and materials will need to be made utilizing the South St. Bridge ramp and a portion of the Boardwalk. We ask that all trail users be aware of the presence of construction equipment and use caution in this area.

Bartram's Mile

This Saturday, April 22 at 11am, the City will celebrate Earth Day by cutting the ribbon on the eagerly awaited Bartram’s Mile trail and greenway. Several local and state dignitaries will be present to commemorate this advancement of Schuylkill Banks to the west side of the river. The $6M project includes the spectacular 56th Street Plaza, enhancements to the Bartram’s Garden trail, an environmentally friendly Botanic Avenue and the relocated Newkirk Monument. See below for more details about the ribboncutting and related Earth Day programming at Bartram's Garden. We hope to see you there!
