Grays Ferry Crescent trail sinkhole construction

A sinkhole was recently discovered on the Grays Ferry Crescent trail section near the 34th Street Bridge. Work is currently underway to excavate the area to determine the cause of the sinkhole. Once the cause is known, work will begin to stabilize the area and reopen the trail.

The main trail will be closed in this area while the sinkhole repair work is performed. In the meantime, please use the side path to the river side of this trail section as shown in the above photo. We will update this page with more information and a trail reopening date as soon as possible.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation during the progression of this repair work.

Project update: July 10, 2026
The sinkhole has been fixed! Our team of contractors were able to successfully excavate, refill, and pave over the sinkhole. Work is now complete, and the trail is fully open.
