New Plantings in the Schuylkill Banks Tidal Basin

You may have seen a wooden fence around the tidal basin near Walnut Street and wondered why it's there. Last fall, Philadelphia Water removed many invasive plants which had taken over the basin and in late April, we planted a number of native plants that will hopefully take root and provide a green buffer along the river's edge. These plantings will help filter stormwater runoff and will provide habitat for local wildlife. The fence will stay up until the plants take root and become established. Thank you for respecting this environmentally sensitive area!
