Bartram's Mile

Bartram's Mile was the first segment of Schuylkill Banks to be built in Southwest Philadelphia. It runs from just south of Grays Ferry Avenue through Historic Bartram's Garden to 56th Street. It will eventually connect to the Grays Ferry Crescent and points north via the Schuylkill Crossing at Grays Ferry. Destinations and points of interest along Bartram's Mile include Bartram's Garden, the Newkirk Viaduct Monument, and the 56th Street Plaza.
Access points for Bartram's Mile include South 49th Street and Botanic Avenue (northern portion), Bartram's Garden Driveway (mid-way point), and Lindbergh Boulevard and South 56th Street (southern point).
There are a limited number of vehicle parking spots at the trail access point at 49th Street and Botanic Avenue and on 56th Street between Lindbergh Boulevard and the river. There are bicycle racks at the 56th Street trail access point.
A portion of the Bartram's Mile trail is closed from the intersection of 51st Street and Botanic Avenue to the river. More details about this closure are at: www.bartramsgarden.org/old-contamination/. All three trail access points remain open during the trail closure.
