Schuylkill Banks is part of the Fairmount Park system, so all Philadelphia Parks & Recreation rules must be observed. This includes, but is not limited to: no littering, no smoking, only authorized vehicles, no vending or selling on the trail without a permit and no open fires. Permitting depends on a number of different factors and is handled by Philadelphia Parks & Recreation. Learn more about hosting picnics and special events on the Parks & Recreation website.

Looking for a new place to picnic? Check out the Grays Ferry Crescent or Bartram's Mile. Grays Ferry Crescent is a great place to set up a blanket and enjoy a quiet afternoon by the river. Access points to this trail segment are located on the 34th Street Bridge, Grays Ferry Avenue & 36th Street, and Wharton Street & Schuylkill Avenue. Bartram's Mile, on the west side of the Schuylkill, also has some great picnic spots. Access points to this trail segment are located at 49th Street & Botanic Avenue, Bartram's Garden, and 56th Street & Bartram Drive.
